Fill me up, Lord

"You will seek me, & find me when you seek me w/ all your heart," God says. But that is not the whole story. I'm not just a searcher. I'm also a hider. You too. We have to come face-to-face w/ our tendency to hide, to get lost. ~John Ortberg, Love Beyond Reason

Autumn, Connection, Changes, & Family

I don't really have a ton to say, -just that I am so super tired, like all the time. Maybe I need to change up my vitamins or actually go to bed earlier!!!

Last night I was going to go to bed around 10ish, but then I remembered the book I am totally engrossed in. Don't you love it when you find a book that you are so connected with that you have to abandon everything in your life for, minus breathing, eating, and peeing?

"The book is called The Memory Keeper's Daughter. I encourage you to amazon it. It's about a doctor who is forced by a blizzard to deliver his own twins. His son, born first, is perfectly healthy. Yet when his daughter is born, he sees immediately that she has Down's syndrome. Rationalizing it as a need to protect Norah, his wife, he makes a split second decision that will alter all of their lives forever. He asks his nurse to take the baby away to an institution and never to reveal the secret. But Caroline, the nurse, cannot leave the infant. Instead, she disappears into another city to raise the child herself. So begins this beautifully told story that unfolds over a quarter of a century in which these two families, ignorant of each other, are yet bound by David Henry's fateful decision that long-ago winter night."

Okay, so I cut and pasted that from the Penguin Publishers site. SO, SO good. I bought it at Barnes & Nobles on Saturday. It was 25% off EVERYTHING for teachers, classroom-related or not. Score!

The leaves right now are so incredible. Makes me wish I had taken the time this weekend to go to the Kettle Morraine up in Wisconsin. My friend and I usually go camping around this time of year up there. I was driving through Long Grove on my way to work, (new route after 7 years!!), and I wanted to just stop to breathe and take it all in. However, I had an 8:15 meeting, so that was out of the question. So many reds, yellows, oranges, and greens -it means autumn has arrived! Don't you like the word "autumn" much more than the word "fall"? Yesterday night at small group we had apples with caramel and hot cider. Yum, yum. The final sign of autumn is that it is predicted that this week's weather will be in the 40's (as the high!), and according to my clients.... SNOW!

My challenging client has had a super morning. It's like he is a different client. Maybe he took some "supplements" this morning that he is supposed to take, and they kicked in. Whatever it is, hallelujah & he is risen indeed.

Church is getting better. The transitions during the service are much smoother. Colin spoke on being a Timothy, and letting us know we aren't all created to be Pauls and Ephroditisuafnadodhoa or whatever his name was. Timothy didn't have specials gifts, nor did he have the talents that other apostles had. But he was consistent and faithful to God's calling. Paul said he couldn't do without him. It reminded me of certain people en ma famile. But I won't name names. (Even if you pay me.) (And no, it's not you.)

I got to hold my baby boy on Monday! I only kissed him like 982089230480 times. He looks like his mommie. aka milk machine mama.
